Procedure of issuing and extending Russian visas
To enter the Russian Federation a foreign citizen must submit a valid identity document, accepted as such by the Russian Federation, and a visa, if no other order of entry into the Russian Federation is established by an international agreement.
A Russian visa is an official permit to enter, pass through, stay in, or live in Russia for a certain period of time. An ordinary visa is in the form of an endorsement placed in your passport by a Russian embassy or consulate.
A Russian visa shows the following:
• The traveller’s name and surname (in both Cyrillic and Latin characters)
• Date of birth
• Sex
• Citizenship/nationality
• Passport number
• Visa issue date
• Entry and exit dates
• Visa type (e.g. tourism or business)
• Number of entries permitted (single entry, double entry or multiple entry)
• Purpose of visit (e.g. study or tourism)
• Information on the host organization in Russia
• Russian visa invitation number
Don’t forget:
• The cost of the visa or the consular fee starts from EUR 35, and depends on the type of visa you need and on your citizenship. Fees are charged according to the bilateral agreements between the Russian Federation and your country of citizenship.
• As a rule, if you change your mind and wish to withdraw your visa application, your money will not be refunded–visa fees are paid for consideration of the application and are non-refundable.
• The visa issuing process usually takes 14 days, but can be arranged in one day for an additional fee.
• Children who are included in their parents’ passport and are travelling together with them do not need a separate visa. However, children requirea separate visa if they have their own passports. In cases where parents do not intend to travel together with their child, they must confirm their consent for the child to travel in writing in the form of an affidavit.

Tourist visa
1. Cheapest and easiest to obtain.
2. Best visa type for short visits.
3. Single or double entry visas available for a maximum stay of thirty days.
4. Issued on the basis of an invitation and voucher provided by an authorized Russian tourist company.
5. Non-extendable – if you wish to prolong your stay in Russia, you must leave the country and obtain a new visa.
6. Often recommended instead of a private or homestay visa, which is much more difficult to obtain.
Invitation to Russia
All applications for Russian visas (with the exception of a transit visa) require a specific visa support document – a visa invitation. This is often called ‘visa support’ or ‘invitation letter’, and must be issued by the party inviting you to Russia, whether a tour company, employing company, educational institution, relative, or a friend.
It is vital to bear in mind that the validity and type of Russian visa you are issued should be strictly adhered to. Once you are in Russia, you can neither change your visa status (e.g. from tourist to business, business to educational, or vice versa), nor extend the validity of your visa (except in an emergency). In order to do so, you will have to leave the country and apply for a new visa.

The cost of double entry visa - 55$ per pax.

Don’t forget:
• It is always better to ask the Russian embassy/consulate directly whether they accept copies of invitations which have been sent to you by fax or email, or whether they only accept originals. You should specify this to the company or individual arranging your visa invitation to ensure that your invitation and visa are processed without any problems or delays.
• The cost of visas can vary, as well as the processing time. For instance, a tourist invitation costs about USD 35 and takes between one hour and one day to be issued, while a business invitation is more expensive (from about USD 50), as it requires some fees to be paid to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and takes longer to issue (as a rule, allow 15–30 days).
• Please note that a letter from your friends or business partners cannot be regarded as official support documentation, and is therefore not valid for obtaining a Russian visa. An invitation can only be issued by a registered Russian travel agency or by a company or organization authorized by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Choose a trustworthy agency/company/partner to provide you with visa support. Before placing your order, make sure that the agency is easily contactable, and provides its address and a working phone number. Also check that it is well established, with several years’ experience of working with Russian visas, and will be able to register you in the city where you are staying. It should also be able to provide assistance in the event of an emergency.
