The Far Eastern Marine Reserve is the only one in Russia. It is located in the south of the Far East and over 98% of its area consists of the water area of the Peter the Great Bay of the Sea of Japan.

Route program

8:00 – start the excursion.   

8:00 – 11:30 – transfer from Vladivostok to Slavianka village (Khasanskii region) by car / bus.

11:30 – 13:30  – a sea excursion along the islands of Peter the Great Bay (The Far Eastern Marine Reserve territory):

               - Antipenko and Sibiriakova islands, with a possible stop on the kekur Colonna, which is not far from the sealery larga and picturesque  rockshelter « Pirates of the Sea of Japan».

                - excursion along the islands: Bolshoy Pelis, Matveeva, De-Livrona, Gildebrandta, Dyrnovo.

                - the Lion cape, the Sosnoviy cape, the kekur Baklanii, pine grove, kekur «Shtany».

13:30 – arrive to the Srednaya bay, the Far Eastern Marine Reserve territory. Going ashore (only here, in one place!). Magnificent blue sea, white sand! Lunch-picnic on the sea shore.

17:15 – depart to Slavianka village.

18:15 – 22:00  – transfer to Vladivostok.

 

The Far Eastern Marine Reserve is the only one in Russia. It is located in the south of the Far East and over 98% of its area consists of the water area of the Peter the Great Bay of the Sea of Japan. Small reserved islands house the largest Black-tailed gull and Temminck’s cormorant colonies in the world and the only nesting places in Russia of the rarest birds in the world fauna - yellow-tailed herons and black-faced spoonbills. The main objects of protection of the Far Eastern Marine Reserve include the Far Eastern trepang, the Alaska king crab, the Pacific octopus, the larga seal, the Japanese scallop, seabird colonies. Whales, minke whales, killer whales, dolphins can be often seen in the waters of the reserve. In 2003 the reserve received the international status of a biosphere reserve.

 

Excursion "The shore of singing pines" (on the water area)

The excursion introduces with the sights of the Eastern region of the marine reserve. During the sea trip you will get acquainted with the geological monuments of the coast, represented by rocks, grottoes and kekur. The route of the excursion lies between the islands of Bolshoy Pelis and Matveev, then passes south of the group of islands of De-Livron, Gildebranta and Durnovo to Sosnovy cape. Narrow projections of the cape are crowned with crowns of the most beautiful representative of the tertiary flora - the majestic tall-flowered pine and thickets of the rhododendron Schlippenbach - one of the most beautifully flowering bushes in the world. Before you will open a panorama of cacti Baklanyh - the place where the largest in the Gulf of Peter the Great is the seals larga. You will see the kekur "Arka" - one of the "visiting cards" of the reserve. Further, along the coast, the route lies to the bay of Astafiev.
